Western Canadian Chainsaw Carving Championship

Now in its 4th year, this competition brings some of the most talented chainsaw carvers around to Rig Hand Distillery, turning raw logs into finished sculptures live over four days. A genuinely unusual, family-friendly way to spend an afternoon in Leduc County.

Down by the River

Friday, September 18 to Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 1pm daily. Louise McKinney Riverfront Park, Edmonton.

Edmonton's folk and roots festival returns for its second year along the river, with headliners including the Rural Alberta Advantage, Vincent Neil Emerson and Goldie Boutilier, plus a market and food and drink vendors all weekend.

Clean and Green RiverFest

A 16-plus year St. Albert tradition combining a Sturgeon River litter clean-up and native tree planting with an environment fair, live music and a free BBQ lunch. A genuinely feel-good way to spend a Saturday morning.

Block50 Pet Fair

A free, dog-friendly community event with a pet-themed market, wiener dog races, a pet costume parade, a dog agility area and adoptable animals from local rescues. All proceeds go to the animal rescues attending.

Stony Plain & Parkland Pioneer Museum Harvest Festival

AsiaFest YEG: Under the Moon

A night of worship and music featuring Tauren Wells, Brooke Nicholls and Saints Worship, with a message from Shady Farag. Billed as a celebration of hope, faith and unity for thousands of attendees.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

A federal statutory holiday honouring residential school survivors, their families and communities. Edmonton hosts commemorative displays and public events throughout the day, and many local organizations mark the day with orange shirts and community gatherings.
